Mesa Verde Publishing specializes in the development of journal publications in the field of history that work to bridge the gap between academic historians and the interested nonspecialist. Journals of academic research have their place in promoting the newest aspects and interpretations of history, but very few journals seek to take that history and make it both understandable and interesting to the general public.

Since 2004, Steven Danver has been managing editor of Journal of the West, which is owned by ABC-CLIO. JOW has long been a respected journal in the history of the American West, and has sought to publish articles that are both academically sound and at the same time interesting to the non-academic readership. MVP will continue this emphasis, and will be looking to expand this area of its business as another way to promote the accessibility of historical knowledge.
